Google Earth to the rescue

Just realized some people out there have been really busy marking out all the airports of the world in Google Earth.

So now if I (or you) want to "scout" one of your destination airports just fire up Google Earth which is free and in the Search box enter the ICAO code of the airport. The ICAO code is a four letter code in which the first two designate the world region, for example MP prefix is Panama, EH is The Netherlands. So MPTO is Tocumen Intl in Panama and EHAM is Schiphol airport in Amsterdam.

Don't confuse it with the IATA (3 letter) code used in the plane tickets and travel agencies. If you are into flight simulation this should be no problem, if you however are a curious reader wondering why I/we spend so much time in simulation, simply to to Wikipedia and search for "ICAO" and the whole list will appear before your eyes.

Just used it to see the NWWW of the previous leg to get the coordinates of the photo shot, and to "see" NZAA (destination for next leg) from the air. That New Zealand airport looks interesting, and finally with a city nearby!.
