IVAO IFR World Tour - Leg 1

Internet Explorer conspired against me (pop up annoyance) and deleted my original draft so here I go again in a shorter form.

I decided to join my first IVAO event, the IFR World Tour 2007 consisting of 70 legs around the world. The shortest leg is around 207 Nm and the longest around 2117 Nm. I guess the event organizers sometimes forget people do have real lives and families to go to.

I flew my first leg yesterday evening. The leg starts at the Hong Kong Intl. (VHHH) airport and ends at the Ninoy Aquino Intl. airport in Manila, Philipines.

I chose a SAS Boeing 737-800 for this flight. Downloaded and studied the charts and airport diagrams. Hong Kong was via the OCEAN departure (SID) and Manila via the CAB arrival (STAR). Cruise altitude was 21000 feet.

While taxiing out of the gate at Hong Kong I passed by the Boeing of a fellow online virtual pilot who had just landed. I prepared and filed my flight plan and registered it on both IVAO and Virtual Pilots.

I had clear day skies on the whole flight with only a few turbulence pockets. On the arrival to Manila I had low clouds and misty conditions as you can see on the photo below while I was on the glide slope for the ILS approach to runway 24.
