Ready for Take off

Shoot me, I got a flight simulation blog. Since I was a kid I had a passion for anything that flies. I started with having a rather elaborate (for a child) cockpit at home. I also chewed up many chapters of my father's flight school book even though I was around 12.

I also joined my father's R/C modelling (remote controlled planes) hobby and quite enjoyed it every Sunday. Then I grew up, had to go to the university, etc. At the time the computers were not really very suitable for an what I would call enjoyable flight simulation. So the dream died.

I never became a pilot, instead I chose something more real to me (Engineering) and while I enjoy flying as a passenger I have never been in a cockpit as a (co)pilot.

But one day in August 2006 I noticed Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 was on discount at a local store! my childhood dream came back and I did not hesitate to grab the FS2004 DVD, buy a brand new gamepad (like playstation) and start flying again. Wow, this was more real than R/C and much cheaper.

Well, not that cheap either! within a week I got tired of flying with a joystick/gamepad and decided to buy my flight sim yoke which resembles the yoke of the planes I like to fly in a more realistic way. That wasn't so cheap... a week later I just had to have the rudder pedals as well and it wasn't cheap either. But I have not regret it, if you are passionate about something then just do it an enjoy it to the fullest because you have only one life to live.

Then I needed a bit more realism so I joined the IVAO (International Virtual Aviation Organization) as a virtual pilot and also as a virtual air traffic controller (ATC). I do more piloting than ATC.

So welcome to my flight simulation blog, I hope you enjoy it.
